Pyrolysis Reactor STYX

Screw reactor with integrated hot gas filter in bench scale

Description:

The STYX screw reactor enables the pyrolysis of flowable organic feedstock < 25 mm grain size. Most varied biogenic and non-biogenic feedstock can be converted into solid, liquid and gaseous products at a constant pyrolysis temperature and a well defined solid´s residence time. The direct energetic conversion in a thermal engine is optional. Special characteristics are the hot gas filtration of the pyrolysis vapours inside the reactor and the sequential release of different vapour fractions along the screw. The fuel is continuously fed in the reactor via a gas-tight hopper and a screw feeder. The simultaneous dosage of multiple materials is feasible as well as the short-term shift to another fuel. The trough screw reactor is heated electrically, -screw heating is optional-, which enables the detailed mass and heat balancing of the pyrolysis process. The STYX can be run in extensive unmanned operation due to the comprehensive EMSR and instrumentation, even in long-term tests.
