Research

It is our goal to develop high temperature recycling processes to enable a climate neutral circular economy for organic and mineral wastes.
Processes Circle GraphicKIT Markus Oberacker

Our major competences in thermochemical process research and technology development include pyrolysis, gasification, combustion, calcination and hydrothermal conversion of mixed solid residues to chemical feedstocks and construction materials as well as mineral materials characterization and particles characterization and deposition at high temperatures.

We combine these competencies to develop resource and energy efficient waste-to-product process chains. We use a multiscale approach from lab to pilot scale to understand and model the individual process steps for scale-up to industry application. Based on this, we evaluate techno-economical and ecological performance and engage in technology transfer with research partners and in cooperation with partners from industry.
